Ratemo W. Michieka is a Kenyan, and currently a Professor of the University of Nairobi and Honorary Secretary, Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS). He is a PhD graduate from Rutgers University, USA, specialized in Weed Science and Environment.
Ratemo is a well known scholar having been the founding Vice Chancellor of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT); Former Director General National Environment Management Authority (NEMA); Kenya; Chairman Kenya Education Network (KENET); Kenya Agricultural Research Institute, (Inter University Council of East Africa (IUCEA); Research Fellow International Institutes of Tropical Agriculture (IITA); United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); Commission for University Education (CUE); former Commission for Higher Education (CHE), National Commission for Science Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI);Former National Council for Science and Technology, Chair and member, African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS); Founder and Chairman, African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD).
Prof. Michieka has published many papers and written books in his area of expertise. He gives frequent public lectures in local and international forums promoting science disciplines, technology and innovation to the budding University graduates.
