questions and the attention of several actors. This article examined the factors determining the adoption of contract farming by soybean producers. Data were collected from 120 soybean growers using a systematic sampling questionnaire semi-structured and addressed to the farm manager. The data were analysed using STATA 15, and a probit model of adoption was estimated. The results show that the number of years of education (5%), the use of improved varieties (1%), the area available for soybean production (1%), contact with research services (10%) and exchanges with peers on contract farming (5%) issues positively influence the adoption of contract farming. Conversely, the existence of an off-farm activity (10%), the perception of agricultural risks (1%), the share of agricultural income in total household income (10%) and the distance between the producer's village and the main town of the commune (5%) had a negative effect on the adoption of contract farming. Thus, raising awareness of the advantages of contract farming and focusing on the characteristics of producers are factors that should be encouraged to adopt contracts.
