Development of A Cascade Aeratror for Small and Medium Fish Farmers in Nigeria

Olorunwa Eric Omofunmi, Oluwabunmi John Esan

Aeration devices are designed to create a greater amount of contact between air and water to enhance the transfer of gases and increase oxidation. A cascade aerator is one of gravity aerators and classified as water-into-air aerators and one of the oldest and most common aerators. It consists of a series of steps that the water flows over (similar to a flowing stream). The main features of the cas

Temporal Distribution of Organochlorine Pesticides in Tissues of Two Fish Species of Tropical Reservoirs: A Case Study of Bui, Ghana

Jidauna Samuel Buba, Edziyie Regina & Campion Betey Benjamin

This study analysed tissues distribution of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) of Alestes nurse and Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus from Bui Reservoir on temporal basis from June, 2017 to May, 2018. GC-ECD was used to identify, quantify pesticide residues. Sixteen OCPs were detected in A. nurse while 14 in C. nigrodigitatus, concentrations range from1.0 – 194.20 ng/g-ww in A. nurse and from1.01 – 370.97

Influence of Singeing Materials on Post-Singeing Temperature, Ph Decline, Retail Characteristics, and Malondialdehyde Status in Chevon During Cold Storage

John Oluwole Aremo, Sule Bamidele, Akinleye Andrew Babatunde Omojola, Olubunmi O. Olusola

This study examined the effects of singeing materials (kerosene, hardwood, scrape-tyre, and liquefied-gas) on various aspects of chevon (goat meat) from singed carcasses stored at 0°C for three weeks. Twelve Red Sokoto buck goats (14-16 kg) were randomly assigned to the treatments, with three replications in a randomized design. The initial post-singeing temperature varied significantly (P<0.05),

Chemical Composition of Fortified, Ready-to-Use Maize-Bambara Groundnut Malt and Maize-Cowpea Malt Complementary Foods for Boosting Immunity in Infants Against Flu-Like Diseases

Ajibo Happiness*, Attaugwu Roseline Nwabugo, Uvere Peter Orji

Maize-bambara groundnut malt and maize-cowpea malt complementary foods were fortified with a flour blend of edible termite and Hibiscus sabderiffa calyces, fermented and subjected to extrusion cooking. The fortified flour blends were evaluated for proximate composition, immune boosting micronutrients and chemical compounds known to be effective against flu-like viruses. The protein, carbohydrate,
