Moleculer Detection and Characterisation of Bordetella Pertusis and Presence of Pertactin Gene Among Patients with Symptoms of Respiratory Tract Infection in Kaduna State

Astaharam Ardo Jabbo, Maryam Ibrahim Rimi*, Muhammad Sani Abdulsalam, Ahmad Babangida Suleiman, Mohammed Bello Yerima

This study detected B. pertussis gene from sputum of respiratory infected patients. Eighty-nine (89) sputum samples were collected and stained using gram staining technique. Gram negative cocco-bacilli were seen in 19 of the samples which were then subjected to DNA extraction by phenol chloroform method. 16SrRNA primer specific for B. pertussis was used for the amplification of B. pertussis.

Effect of Food Availability Variation on Dietary Consumption and Nutritional Adequacy of Reproductive-Age Women Benefiting from a Multisectoral Intervention: A Longitudinal Study in Benin

Nagassi Whomou Jacob Victor*, Fanou-Fogny Nadia, Mitchikpè Comlan Evariste Simon

Malnutrition is a multi-causal phenomenon that affects women's health and their children. This study determined the extent to which the dietary intake and nutritional adequacy of women of reproductive age, beneficiaries of a multisectoral intervention, are affected by the seasonality effect of food availability periods (FAP) in northwest Benin. A sample of 165 voluntary women was constituted

Serum Proteogenomic Investigation of C-X-C Motif Chemokine 10 (CXCL10) and Zika Virus RNA in Pregnant Women of Nigerian Tertiary Teaching Hospitals

Hafeez Aderinsayo Adekola*, David Ajiboye Ojo, Saka Adebayo Balogun, Morenike Atinuke Dipeolu

Zika virus (ZIKV) is a type of mosquito-borne virus belonging to the Flavivirus genus. It has been associated with microcephaly and neurological disorders in newborns. During Zika virus infection in pregnant women, the chemoattractant C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 10 (CXCL10) shows a significant increase, up to 200-fold and has been linked to the pathogenesis of ZIKV. This study investigated
